TRIUMPH BONNEVILLE T140E, 1979. This is a bike rescued from oblivion! I bought several boxes of bits and a frame about 21/2 years ago and spent the time to now rebuilding and renovating this UK (low bars) Bonnie (and months getting it re-registered on its original number).
I believe it was an insurance write off as it looked like it had been dropped on its left hand side, the left hand foot-peg mount was twisted. Anyway I had the frame, swinging arm and cycle parts powder coated semi-gloss black, the front mudguard was in good condition so was re-chromed, the wheels were rebuilt by CWC with new British chrome rims and stainless steel spokes, new wheel bearings and carriers were fitted, rear shocks are Girlings (USD?), the rear mudguard is stainless steel, the rear carrier is new, the front and rear brakes were overhauled with new seal kits and braided hoses, the front brake is fitted with a switch, built into the banjo bolt. The brake master cylinders are both stainless steel.
The engine was stripped and rebuilt, the sludge trap replaced, the casings vapour blasted, the barrel blasted and repainted with HT gloss black, new rings on the pistons, new engine bearings throughout, new oil seals throughout, new 3 phase power box, alloy push-rod tubes, the gearbox was stripped and rebuilt with new bearings throughout, new 7 plate clutch from LP Williams fitted, a spin-on oil filter has been fitted just below the frame down tube.
It is not concourse, the left hand silencer (the exhaust system is stainless steel!) shows signs of the drop I mentioned at the start, but it is on the underside of the silencer and can only be seen if you really look for it. I used stainless steel fasteners where I could, including Allen screws on the calliper fixings which meant the chrome covers wouldn't fit so I painted the callipers gold (Hammerite) and I think they look great (I would say that).
The engine starts 1st or 2nd kick without smoke or rattles but it will need to be run in (new rings), the brakes will need to be bedded in too. The electronic ignition and power-box are under the seat (seat base was reinforced with steel strip and recovered).
I have kept all the documentation, including the TOMCC dating certificate, bills and the original bill of sale (for the boxes of bits) and this will go with the bike. I'm selling as I just cannot justify having another bike (I have another Triumph) sitting doing nothing and this one deserves to be ridden.
Offers around £3,000.00 please as I spent more than that in new or replacement parts/chroming/powder coating etc.

NAIL SALE: Loathe though I
am to part with the old thing, The Old Nail © is on the block. This is a 1969
or so vintage Moto Guzzi New Falcon. Readers of the world's previously finest
used bike guide monthly may remember a series of articles called The Nail
Files. They were about this bike. There is also a series of articles on this
very web site called Tuning for Need. They too are about this bike. What you
have here is your basic and well-used New Falcon with some improvements.
The major one is the cylinder
head. This has been welded-up and machined to a bathtub shape with a squish
band, based on the design used in a classic Triumph endurance racer (Dave
Degens?). The head has also been twin-plugged. It has new and much lighter
valves with springs of a matching rating. All courtesy of The Cylinder Head
Shop. The engine runs, but needs adjustment. What it needs is someone with a
lathe or a Humbermate to skim the head or barrel down to the proper squish
clearance. Once this is set, there may be a need to adjust the lash caps on the
valve stems to bring the adjusters into the right range. It also needs the
drain plug on the right fork leg to be fitted with a new seal (I have spare
ones of those too).
The engine has a new piston,
rings and liner. The bike comes with a load of spares. These include a larger
piston, spare liner, higher-capacity oil pump, head bearings, various gaskets
and so on. It also comes with some of the special tools, which include the
flywheel puller, fork-leg spanner and ignition-timing quadrant. I also have a
complete electronic ignition set for it, plus a new twin-outlet coil. And some
new transfers. Plus a home-made pillion seat. And the manual and parts list.
And you can also have the SU carb that I was planning to fit next. The bike is
fitted with a Carabinieri handlebar fairing and leg shields plus indicators.
The tyres are good and it has a chain oiler. Oh, and a grease nipple for the

with a spare Norton (perhaps) one and the
original but rusty Moto
Guzzi affair.
This bike is one of the more
developed road-going New Falcons. The Km speedo has gone round the clock,
meaning that it's done about 60,000 miles. It's done the National Rally for a
Gold. I passed my Advanced Motorcycling test on it. It's boring on motorways
but a total hoot on the Yorkshire Dales roads near me.
I want £2000 for it. It
