you have advertised for. They will ask for full or part payment, by post or
bank transfer. You send the money but receive nothing in return, and then the
‘seller’ disappears or refuses to discuss the matter. The Police are involved
in investigating this matter.
One
person who has used this scam is only available on mobile phones, and asks for
payment to be sent to his girlfriend’s bank account.
For
your own protection we can only recommend that you buy goods IN PERSON once you
are satisfied that they are correct. If you have any doubt about a seller being
genuine then you should assume the worst. Do not proceed with the transaction
or send any money if you have any doubts. You might consider asking a seller to
list an item on eBay with a Buy It Now facility, and then pay with a credit
card and PayPal, which offers some protection should a transaction go
wrong.
