2014 Newark CBG Winter Classic Preview

Planning on spannering through the cold winter months? The Winter Classic show at Newark is the perfect place to stock up on spares while you take in the sights...

The CBG Winter Classic takes place on the first weekend of 2014, on January 4th and 5th, and so it provides an ideal excuse to haul yourself off the sofa and blow away some cobwebs after the Christmas holidays. Now in its third year, the Show and jumble returns to its indoor digs at Newark County Showground, filling five halls with club and concours displays plus an outdoor trade area for hardy souls seeking rare spares. It's also well worth wrapping up warm to venture outside at 1pm each day for the 'Blast from the Past' moment when road and race machines will be fired up.

For the rest of the weekend the classics will be kept under control in the shelter of the indoor halls, forming an extensive array of concours displays. Private entries range from vintage machines like an early Calthorpe through postwar Brits - Golden Flash, Triumph T110 and the like - to superbikes such as a Kawasaki Turbo, Ducati MHR and top Italian exotica. You'll discover an interesting display in the Lady Eastwood Hall by David Wood and sons; a range of Triumph twins from the 1950s and 60s, plus BSA 650s, with a New Hudson and even a Bultaco thrown in for added entertainment.
