Win! Win! Tickets for the Stafford Show

We know how everyone likes something for nothing. So here's a chance for RealClassic magazine subscribers to enjoy this autumn's Stafford Classic Show -- for free!

Were you planning to trek along to the Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show at Stafford's County Showground, on October 21st or 22nd? If so, and if you're a paid-up magazine subscriber, then you could be one of our winners in this FREE TICKET GIVEAWAY and so save the price of your admission (normally £8.50).

We've got 14 tickets to give away in this wee competition - which means we expect 14 winners to rush right along to the RealClassic stand in the Sandylands Hall and instantly spend an equivalent amount on RC Regalia…

All you have to do to win is send an email to and quote your RC Club membership number (or if you can't find it straight away you can put your postcode instead). All current RC subscribers who do that thang by October 12th 2006 will be entered into the prize draw, and the winners' tickets will be sent out by first class mail on October 13th (so you should have them in plenty of time for the Show on the 21st).

The best way to see the show is from the cabin of your own Zeppelin, or by wearing stilts...

And what might you enjoy if you brave the autumn gales and join us at Stafford? Brace yourselves; there's quite a bit to see and do… Eleven times British motorcycle champion Roger Marshall is this year's race ace guest of honour. His racing career has lasted almost two decades, and has seen him accumulate an impressive collection of championships, including 11 British titles. Roger will be on hand throughout the weekend, taking part in a number of presentations allowing the audience to ask him questions about his career and take his autograph.

Graeme Crosby will be appearing on the Z1 Owners' Club stand along with the Moriwaki Z1000 which terrorised the major works teams of the late 1970s. Graeme will also be joining Roger Marshall through the weekend on the main stage to give a presentation on his career.

Some tickets, yesterday.
Random Z1 stuff on

The organisers expect there to be almost 1000 classic bikes on display, plus the usual trade and autojumble stalls, and the posh Bonhams auction on the Sunday. There's an additional bonus this year with an extra auction on the Saturday, when a huge chunk of the Lawrence Rose collection goes under the hammer.

Of course, for RealClassic readers the highlight of the show will be to (1) achieve the near-impossible and actually locate the RC stand, and (2) spend all available cash on back issues, t-shirts, rugby shirts, magazine binders, super-spangly shed mugs and an early renewal at said RC stand. If you're really lucky the new RC beanie hats will have arrived in time (no sign of them yet: ulp), and if the gods of fortune are truly smiling upon you then there will still be a chocolate-covered HobNob lurking in the biccy-tin. Then you can stand and chat with Rowena or Frank while they endeavor to extract yet more money from passers-by who haven't yet seen the light or don't quite know what they're letting themselves in for. Or both.

If you do bring your Zeppelin, watch out for those cross-braces on the ceiling...

If you don't win a freebie ticket, and if the challenge of locating the RealClassic stand within the labyrinth that is the Stafford Country Showground proves to be to much for you to resist, then you can always pay for your own admission. Tickets cost £8.50 for adults, £6.50 for senior citizens and under 15s £2, and the parking is free. You might even be able to snag a discounted ticket or two by calling 01507 529300, so long as you pay in advance. The show gates open at 9am and close at 5pm both days.

And if you do pass a coffee stand on your way through the halls - white, no sugar. Cheers…
