Show Off And Win A RealClassic Award!
If you spent all winter fettling your P&J, then now is the time to show it off to the world. Come along to one of these summer shows and you could win a RealClassic award... The show season is well under way and, following the success of last summer's events, we're sponsoring a range of concours competitions across the country. We received lots of positive feedback from RC readers last year who'd been encouraged to attend a different event - even from the people who weren't lucky enough to win a prize! Many of these shows are mixed ones featuring all forms of classic and vintage transport, although a couple are dedicated just to old motorcycles. You'll find all manner of old machines at most shows - from vintage tractors to steam engines to classic cars to trikes, bikes and other mobiles. These events are extremely family-friendly, so they offer a range of other activities too like craft fairs and funfairs and children's entertainments.
Last year, Allen Broad's 1949 Speed Twin caught the eye of the judges, as did Stuart Bidwell's 1975 Trident T160 and Mick Knowles' 1962 Norton Navigator. All three took home RealClassic awards in 2006 so it could be your turn in 2007. Your bike doesn't need to be 100% standard or necessarily in pristine, polished and primped condition because the judges will be on the look-out for interesting machines that are well maintained, appropriately modified and ridden to the event. All Real Classics welcome, in fact! We will be featuring the winning motorcycles in the magazine or here on the site - so you get a grand day out on the cheap, plus the chance to take home a trophy and an RC fun bundle, AND your bike could be made famous across the entire planet! It's nearly all too much excitement for us to cope with… Here's a full list of the dates and where each show can be found:- Mark Woodward's Classic Shows Monday 7 May: The 23rd Notts Classic Car & Motorcycle Show Sunday 13 May: The 14th North-West Classic Car & Motorcycle Show Sunday & Monday 27/28 May: Classic Car & Motorcycle Show Mon 28th May: The 19th Yorks Classic Car & Motorcycle Show 24 June: The 8th Raby Castle Classic Car & Motorcycle Show 1st July: The 6th Garstang Classic Vehicle Show & Autojumble 8th July: The 8th Leighton Hall Classic Car & Motorcycle Show 29th July: The Northern Classic Motorcycle Show PLUS 8 July: Ripley Castle - 15 July: Hoghton Tower - 22 July: Lakeland, Penrith - 12 Aug: Belvoir Castle, Grantham - 26/27 Aug: Capesthorne Hall - 27 Aug: Thoresby Hall - 2 Sept: Cholmondeley Castle - 9 Sept: Hoghton Tower - 30 Sept: Uttoxeter Racecourse To enter your bike for the concours at any of the above events see www.markwood wardclassicevents.com or call 01253 704779 ----------------- Transtar Promotions Vintage Vehicle Events Sun 6th / Mon 7th May: Catton Hall Classic Car &Transport Show Sunday 13th May: 29th Sandwell Historic Vehicle Show Sunday 17th June: Ragley Hall Classic Car & Transport Show Sunday 24th June: 6th Sheffield Festival of Transport Saturday 30th June / Sunday 1st July: 7th Motoring Pageant, Kent Sunday 8th July: Walsall Classic Car & Transport Show Sunday 15th July: Sandon Hall Classic Car & Transport Show Sunday 22nd July: Beaumanor Classic Car & Transport Show Sunday 5th August: 18th Trentham Transport Festival Sunday 2nd September: Dudley Classic Car, Transport Show, Sunday 16th September: The Stinkwheel RealClassic Motorcycle Show, To enter your bike for the concours at any of the above events see www.transtar promotions.co.uk or call 01922 643385 |
