Classic Motorcycle Raffles
Home -> Features -> News and Products ->

Can't afford the classic bike of your dreams? Well, you could win an AJS Model 20 or a Norton Commando S-type for just the price of a raffle ticket...

If you've been blitzed by the mid-winter glooms… cheer up! The sun will shine again and you might even win a shiny old bike to play with this summer. Both the AJS and Matchless and Vintage Motor Cycle Clubs run regular raffles, where anyone can buy a chance to win a spiffy classic bike for about the cost of a cup of coffee. You're also helping to support those organisations, so even if you don't win one of the prizes then you should get a warm cosy glow from knowing your money has gone to a good cause - the continued wellbeing of classic motorcycling…

The prize in the last AJS&MOC raffle was a sparkling 650 CSR, and it was presented by Club President Malcolm Arnold (on the left) to Mr P Jones from Surrey at the end of last year. Further prizes of an hydraulic workbench (supplied by Malcolm Hepinstall) and £100 in cash went to the runners-up.

In the envelope is a three year contract with Solvol Autosol... Last year's prize, an AJS 650 CSR

For 2008 the prize bike in the AJS&M draw is a 500cc AJS Model 20 Deluxe (similar to the 500 twin which we featured in RC37). Tickets will go on sale from the 9th February and will be drawn on the 16th November 2008. You can buy tickets at club stands throughout the show season (starting at Bristol, then Stafford, and so on), or see www.jampot.com

Meanwhile, the VMCC made Dave Lee a very happy man by giving him a 1952 Vincent Comet, which was the first prize in their raffle at the end of 2007. Gary Phillips won a Davida crash hat, with various other prizes given to F Burrell, F Edgeley and G Foster.

You can almost hear them shivering.... Brrrrr... 1952 Vincent Comet, won in the 2007 VMCC raffle

For the next VMCC raffle there's a chance to win not one but TWO classic bikes - first prize is a 1969 750cc Norton Commando S (very similar to the yellow one we featured in RC43; is there a theme here?), and second prize is a 1962 AJS Model 14 CSR. And yes, the Commando DOES have the high-rise twin pipes to go with its spangly metalflake paintwork; they're just lurking on the other side of the bike.

Tickets have been distributed to all VMCC members with the club's journal and will also be available at various events before the draw which takes place on 27/06/08. Tickets may also be ordered on line at www.vmcc.net

For 208, there will be sunshine... 1969 750cc Norton Commando S on the right, 1962 AJS Model 14 CSR on the left...

On the other hand, if you can't wait until the raffles are drawn, and need something to cheer you up urgently, then have a snout through the RealClassic classifieds: there's bound to be a bargain which will lift your spirits…
