2009 Norton Challenge Finale
There's still time to join other RC riders on the Norton Challenge and round off the year with a small celebration at the Malvern RealClassic Bike Show in November. Quick: get that bike out of the garage and don't forget your camera!... Congratulations to everyone who has already taken part in our slightly strange Norton Challenge. Thanks very much for joining in with the fun this year, and for sending your photos to the magazine. We hope you had a good time bagging your Nortons, and that you travelled to some new places or re-visited old friends on the way. We've certainly caused some consternation at the more popular places called 'Norton', where the locals have become accustomed to strange motorcyclists skidding to a halt by their roadsigns and brandishing cameras with enthusiasm.
Triumph twins can take part...
If you've not yet bagged a Norton then all is not lost. There's still another couple of weeks so take any motorcycle and get yourself hence to a town / village / street / chip-shop with 'Norton' in its name. Take a snap of your bike (and yourself if you know how to operate the self-timer doohickey, or have a good chum who'll come out with you amid the autumnal mists), and send the pic to us. Then you can join us with a clear conscience to celebrate a very successful riding season. We are inviting all Norton Challengers to join us on Sunday November 1st 2009 at the Malvern RealClassic Bike Show. The Show organiser, Andrew Greenwood, has kindly supplied FREE passes for all Norton Challengers - if you want to come and your pass hasn't arrived already in the post then please contact TP at RealClassic.net ASAP.
Even Ner-a-Cars can get in on the act.
We'd like to organise a display of those hardy machines which have been criss-crossing the countryside on the Norton Challenge at this show, so we would be delighted to see you and your bike at the event. There will be a small presentation at lunchtime with a few prizes for those people who claimed some extra-special Nortons during the season. As usual with all things RC (and the Norton Challenge in particular) this isn't a formal gathering and you can bring any bike you like - we thought it would be nice for Norton Challengers to meet up in one place and exchange tall stories. The autumn Malvern Show is always a friendly event with an excellent autojumble. It's centrally located so shouldn't be too long a ride for most Challengers. There are also plenty of Nortons in the area so you can top up your total on the way if you feel enthusiastic…
Your pass entitles you to enter the Show for FREE before 10am. Please bring your bike along to the hall where the RC stand is situated and we'll do our best to organise you into a coherent display. You're welcome to bring a pal on the pillion, and she or he qualifies for free entry too. You'll find us at: The Three Counties Showground, Malvern WR13 6NW, eight miles from the M5 and M50. If you need any further information about the event then please see the organisers' website: www.classicshows.org or call 01484 452002. If you can't come to the Show then we'll raise a glass (er… a polystyrene cup) in your absence, but we hope you can make it and we look forward to seeing you there. |
