Odgie's Speedster Series Special Offer
When Odgie wanted a 1920's era Brooklands-type racer, he built his own 'vintafake', starting with a James Comet rolling chassis. Now you can buy the entire series of articles which details the Speedster project from start to finish... Odgie's project extends to eight episodes and was published in RealClassic magazine, issues 45 to 52. It's a back-to-basics build with no big budget, no fancy workshops and no high-tech tools. It's all old school stuff with hacksaws, files, Whitworth spanners and an occasional hammer*. Over the months Odgie bludgeons (and maybe bodges) a collection of disparate parts into glorious shape, and explains the how and the why of what he's doing - along with what didn't work, too.
Odgie's Speedster
The James Comet rolling chassis is soon united with a Sunbeam Scooter engine, and then there's the just matter of getting them to fit together properly. En route to the finish Odgie welds tubes, makes templates, saws steel, makes his own sprocket, sidestand and silencers; gets the motor going, scours autojumbles for carbs, saddles and such… until, finally, the Speedster is finished. Then in the final episode Odgie takes it for a ride and gives his honest opinion on the machine's merits and he tots up how much the whole project cost to complete.
Odgie's Speedster
This series appeared in monthly installments across eight issues of RealClassic in 2008. Now you can buy all of them in one straightforward purchase, and because we save on packing and postage you also pay considerably less than if you bought 'em all one at a time.
That's eight magazines in total: issues RC45 to RC52 Sorry: Sold Out! ------------- Don't want to buy eight at once? That's no problem; you can still buy a single issue if you like… ------------
*It's like an occasional table, but without the vase of flowers… |
