Uttoxeter Classic Motorcycle Show Preview
Would you like to display your classic at the Uttoxeter Show in two weeks' time? Steve Cooper of the VJMC tells us all about it... The VJMC's 3rd Classic Motorcycle Show at Uttoxeter on July 4th and 5th 2009 is all set to be the biggest and best to date. Prices are set at a very keen at £7 for a day ticket or £14 for a weekend pass including camping Friday and Saturday nights; ticket sales are already doing well so we hope to see a panoply of RC members at the show. If you'd like to add your classic bike to the display then there's just time to enter and gain FREE admission on both days and FREE camping (details below: first come first served!). Parking is free for all visitors and our friends from Riders for Health are on site with their helmet park bus so please make a donation and leave your crash helmets in safe hands. The breadth and diversity of the event continues to expand and we now have some 80 motorcycle clubs in attendance with more than 900 bikes booked in for display; we may be a Japanese club but we enjoy and appreciate bikes from everywhere.
If last year's event is anything to go by there will be bikes on display that simply just don't seem to appear anywhere else and this really adds to the event's unique appeal. We have at least eight make marque or brand rallies so there really should be something for everyone to see and enjoy. If ever there was a chance to broaden you two wheeled horizons this is the event is going to supply the catalyst. We know RC members have a broad based approach to motorcycles so why not visit the sidecar village? Here you'll find a host of proponents readily advocating a little extra something on the side and for once the result shouldn't get you into too much trouble. We have Mick Grant on hand over the entire weekend and he will be available to sign autographs and meet the public. To add a bit more spice to our Sights and Sounds demonstrations, Mick will also be bringing two of his own bikes that will be fired up for all to see and enjoy. Expect to hear the base baritone of the works XR69 1000cc four cylinder four-stroke and the berserk crackle of Mick's 750 H2R two-stroke Kawasaki triple. If neither of these press any of your buttons then you will almost certainly be at the wrong event.
The Sights and Sounds will be running on both Saturday and Sunday and we hope to provide you with a varied and entertaining programme. Where else in the classic world do you get to experience sidevalve flat-tankers, ex-GP race bikes, big bruising 70s super bikes, British bikes at their best and ultra cool street machines? Precisely! For those staying on site we have a good number of showers and a large camp. If you are camping and really wish to make a full weekend of the event the facilities are open from mid afternoon on the Friday so why not arrive early, kick back and chill out ready for a weekend of fun? For campers, clubs and traders staying on site we've live entertainment plus a disco on both Friday and Saturday night in some rather splendid facilities. If you want to strut your stuff you can do it on a real dance floor rather than embarrass your friends and family in the 'privacy' of an open field. Dad dancing is not obligatory but will win you huge kudos amongst your peers.
Finally there's the concours itself and a brief look at what's promised suggests we are all in for a belting display. There may be a recession on but the classic bike world is holding its head high and refusing to roll over and play dead. In recognition of the exhibitors' steadfast devotion above and beyond the call of duty we've added some extra categories to the trophy list. It's our way of saying thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last two events and we look forward to seeing you all at the show. ---------------- Free Ticket Offer! We have half a dozen FREE tickets for any RC readers who'd like to display their bikes over this weekend, July 4th and 5th 2009, at the Uttoxeter Classic Motorcycle Show.
Just email RCHQ @ RealClassic.net and say who you are and where you live. The first folk to dive in will be sent a weekend pass, which is actually a wristband. This gives you access to the site via the second gate, manned 24hrs per day. All you need to do is make sure your bike is on display by 9am, in the Exhibition Hall Marquee (next to the Tiger Cubs). Your pass also gives you FREE camping on Friday and Saturday nights, with access to the site from Friday midday. Take a friend and make a weekend of it! -------------- Further Show Info including details of how to buy single day tickets is available from www.uttoxeterclassicbikeshow.co.uk
